Frequently asked questions
You are at the right place and I am SO happy you are choosing to get your first spray tan with me! I promise you will NOT be dissapointed.
First things first - schedule your appointment. If you are being tanned for an event, I recommend a trial tan at least 3 weeks prior to the event. If you decide not to or don't have time for trial, then you'll want to select a date 1-2 days before your event to get your spray tan. You can text me, FB message me, or DM me on Instagram to schedule your appointment. Let me know what day(s) you want to come and I will provide available appointment times to you. Once you select your time slot, I will send you the location and additional information you need to know.
Day Before & Day of your Tan - carefully review the Prep Instructions and ensure you follow the guidelines that I provide! This is a vital step - perfect spray tans are made up of 50% my technique and work and 50% the way you prep and take care of your tan. Once you're all prepped and ready for your tan, show up at your scheduled appointment time. Please be on time and let me know if you are running more than 5 minutes behind. If you happen to arrive early, please stay in your car and let me know that you have arrived - I'll let you know when I'm ready for you! I may be with another client so if I don't respond right away, please wait until your scheduled time to come to the door.
Please keep in mind that appointments are scheduled in 30 minute blocks so if you are more than 15 minutes late, I cannot guarantee your appointment time will be held.
After your Appointment - Carefully review the After Care instructions and follow them closely. Most importantly, do not get wet, sweat, or work out for at least 10 hours (2-6 hours for rapid tan). Quickly rinse off in the shower without soap once your development period is over. Ta-da, your beautiful tan is revealed! Take good care of your skin, moisturize frequently, and avoid long hot showers, spas, or pools to extend the life of your tan! Once your tan is gone and the party is over, message me to schedule your next session so we can do it all over again.
This timeframe is dependent on getting off your first spray tan before getting a fresh one. You will want to completely exfoliant any remants of tan off before being sprayed again. Getting a fresh spray tan on top of a fading tan, may cause the tan to look uneven or patchy, especially once you being fading. We don't recommend tanning more than 2 times in a 2 week period to avoid a build-up of tanning solution.
Please send me a message to schedule your appointment. You can contact me via text or phone call (352-222-4160), through FB Messenger (Kelby Bryant or Golden Girls Tanning), or through Instagram Direct Message (@goldengirlsgainesville).
Let me know what date you are looking to come for a session and I'll reply with available appointment times for that day. Once you select your time slot, show up on time and make sure you have prepped according to my instructions.
The bronzers in the spray tan may rub off on clothes/bedding but this risk is only present while the spray tan is developing (before your first rinse). The good news is, these bronzers are washable and should NOT stain your clothes or bedding. We recommend sleeping in long pants/long sleeve shirt the first night to reduce the risk of transfer.
Anywhere from 1-3 days before an event is acceptable, however, 2 days before is the sweet spot. If your event is on a Saturday, Thursday is the best day to get sprayed. If you are getting sprayed for the first time and it is for a big event, we recommend coming for a trial tan at least 2-3 weeks before the event.
Yes, the main ingredient in spray tans, DHA, is approved by the FDA for external use. DHA is a non-toxic substance that reacts with cells in the outermost layer of the skin to produce the brown pigment called melanoidin. DHA does not go beyond the outer layer of the skin and is not absorbed into the body, which makes it safe for pregnant women as well. You should avoid getting it in your eyes, mouth, or nose. We will remind you to hold your breath while your face is being tanned to ensure you don't enhale it.
